Stewart-Hunter employs over 25,500 people making it one of the largest employers in Coastal Georgia. 21,200 full-time Soldiers, 4,350 Army civilian workers and contractors, and more than 19,000 military retirees call Stewart-Hunter communities home.
The Property
Over 10,200 Soldiers, family members, and Army civilians reside on post. There are 3,268 family housing units, 334 unaccompanied housing units, and 6,177 barracks spaces. Stewart-Hunter comprises 22.4 million square feet of facilities totaling $7.5 billion.
The Commitment
Stewart-Hunter is an Army Community of Excellence earning the Chief of Staff’s top award 7 times from 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015 and 2019 for being the best place to live, train, work, and raise a family. The installation earned the Bronze award in 2018.
The Community
Stewart-Hunter has a combined economic impact of $4.9 billion in Coastal Georgia. Military and civilian pay contribute more than $1.4 billion to the economy. Retiree income adds an additional $164 million.
